The train and coach can cost less for one traveller, but the last coach leaves the Mont at **18:00**. The 18 spring-tide days from September to December 2026 peak before **09:30** or after **19:00**. For three people, driving costs about **125 €** on a free-parking evening or **140 to 155 €** with daytime parking, before any rental fee. The lowest advertised rail fares can produce a similar theoretical total. Check the actual trains that connect with the coach before comparing prices. The 27 and 28 September evening tides peak at **20:37** and **21:12**. The late dates are night tides, and weather can move the real water level above or below the prediction. An evening trip is long but workable. Leave Paris around 14:00, park after 18:30, and reach the footbridge well before a 21:00 high water. Driving back the same night puts you in Paris around 02:00. A night in Beauvoir or Pontorson makes the same tide easier. Walking takes about **45 minutes**. Le Passeur shuttle runs until **23:00** from March through October and during the Christmas school holiday. It runs until **22:00** in the normal November to February season. Check the published hours for your date before relying on the last shuttle. Which should you take? ---------------------- The train usually wins for one traveller on an ordinary tide. For two or three people, compare the complete rail itinerary with the car's fuel, toll, parking and rental costs. Count the late return as part of the cost. You begin the four-hour drive after high water. The car gives you control of the tide window. It is the only same-day option in this comparison that stays through the autumn evening peaks.
